Change colors in bootstrap-3-server.master

Feb 19, 2015 at 6:06 PM
Good day.
I use the SharePoint Color Palette Tool to change colors in master pages. However, I'm willing to use any tool.

I know how to create a preview of the master page.

What I need to know is the best way to change the colors in the bootstrap-3-server.master page. I used the WSP solution to install. The assets are located in Style Library currently.

I am not very good in ASPX and use HTML 90% of the time (Dreamweaver CS6/CC).

Thank you for your help.

The Color Palette Tool helps you create a custom spcolor and spfont file, that you could then use to create a custom composed look. The catch is that most custom master pages use custom CSS that has not been configured to be themable. You could definitely update the custom css to be themable, but I am not sure it would be worth the effort in your case.

My suggestion to change the colors is to use custom css and your trusty browser developer toolbar. This will allow you to find the class/id/element you wish to style, then you can add your custom css to your custom stylesheet to lock these css modifications down.
