CSS changes not applied when changed in boostrap.custom.css

I keep trying to change the background color of the body and it's not working.

Any idea? I really want to make a custom master page on the bootstrap template.

s4-bodyContainer {

width: auto !important;
background-color: black !important;

There are a few methods to change the background color, as there are layered containers with different colors associated with it.

You could start mostly at the bottom with something like:
#s4-workspace {
    background-color: black;
The following should work as well, possibly you are missing the #?
#s4-bodyContainer {
    background: black;
In our implementation, we used "panels", thus you may want to try something like:
#s4-bodyContainer, #s4-bodyContainer .panel {
    background: black;

This is bizarre but none of the .css changes I'm make are showing. I followed the instructions.

I'm making the changes to the bootstrap-custom.css sheet. I checked in and checked out all pages/sheets and published a major version.

Any idea on what else can be going on here?

Hi, sounds like SP is getting in your way. Check your page load in your dev toolbar, I suggest Chrome. Check the network tab and check the contents of your bootstrap-custom.css stylesheet. If you are not receiving an the updated css file from SP, you might be seeing a caching issue on either the browser side, or SP side even. I have seen blob cache get in the way of updates files being delivered to the browser.

You can also use the network tab to ensure you are receiving the css file from the folder you are expecting and updating.
