Multiple SharePoint 2013 site collections sharing 1 bootstrap master page

Hey All,

We have a site taxonomy that includes multiple (over 20) site collections (publishing sites) of which i want to apply a heavily customised bootstrap master page to all of them but from a central point to save me any pain in the future when trying to update.

This is being applied to SharePoint 2013 on-line, I've read chat about a feature being deployed but not sure of this is workable.

Any input much appreciated.

We have the same and found that we can keep our resource files (bootsrap css/js/images) all in the root site collection and use relative references from the master (which will resolve to the root location no matter the site collection).

However we do have to publish the master page and page layouts to each of the site collections.

It minimises maintenance and we rarely touch the master page once in place (of which a quick Powershell redeploy updates each site collection).

Thanks for the input, I suspected as much and i guess I am happy to go with CSS option. Have you ever thought about deploying the Master pages in bootstrap as a feature?

Check out the download included i this project at https://responsivesharepoint.codeplex.com/releases/view/114361. This download includes a VS solution and feature set to install TB3 branding as a feature.

Thanks Eric, i've had a look at this and I'm a little unsure on what I should be downloading...is it the main WSP file? From here should i then extract the content from the WSP for give me the VS solution file?

The link I referenced above links to the release page for the wsp version of this project. There are two primary downloads, the recommended one for a zip file and a second link for documentation. I highly recommend you review the documentation for the wsp version at https://responsivesharepoint.codeplex.com/downloads/get/753977.

Within the zip file is two primary folders. Each folder contains a wsp, one for foundation only and the second if you have a SP server license. The documentation will help you install the wsp solution into your farm so that your site collections will then have a feature available to apply the branding.

If you want to update these solutions or make your own VS solutions, then you will need to grab the source directly from this project at https://responsivesharepoint.codeplex.com/SourceControl/latest#README.txt
