Responsive Frameworks for SharePoint 2013 and SharePoint 2010

Branding SharePoint can be a fun, rewarding yet often times challenging endeavor. SharePoint is extremely powerful, but with that power comes complexity that makes its way into the front end HTML, JavaScript and CSS as well. You throw Responsive Web Design principles and a grid layout, which is all of the rage right now in web design, and you might be in for it.

Until now.

The goal of this project is to provide popular grid and responsive frameworks converted to SharePoint 2013 and SharePoint 2010. That is right, we are taking the best pre-build web front-end frameworks and doing the hard part for you, converting them to work within the SharePoint environment. We have taken popular frameworks, Twitter Bootstrap (2 and 3) and Zurb Foundation (4) and converted them to work in both SharePoint 2013 and SharePoint 2010. In SharePoint 2013 we intend to also utilize Design Manager. Documentation included in each package is very thorough as we attempt to explain how to use the framework packages.

Bootstrap 3 Announcement (Released!)

Twitter Bootstrap 3 was recently released and my initial reaction, yup, we want to go there. They moved Bootstrap to mobile first, giving us 12 columns at all device widths. Very nice, something that we all need to do anyhow. They did away with span# and went with col-#.

Update We released the first Alpha version of Bootstrap 3.0.0 for SharePoint 2013. You can find the download link in the additional downloads found on the right of the downloads page. If you are up to it, please download this and tell us how it goes. Please use our Discussion form to report errors. We have tested this across many site templates, when used as a system master page, with structured and managed navigation. There might still be some bugs with IE8, dialogs and editing managed navigation inline.

A WSP is now available for SharePoint 2013!

Ugo Brunet and the team at RioLinx have taken this project and put it on steroids. You can now download an entire WSP that includes Bootstrap 3, Bootstrap 2 and Foundation 4 frameworks all packaged into a nice WSP for easy deployment. There are actually two WSP's but to learn why and to get started now, visit the package download page for all of the goodness.

We need helpers! In particular we are looking for help with testing our releases and suggesting updates. If you would like to join this project please contact the project lead. We would like to convert as many frameworks to both SharePoint 2013 and SharePoint 2010 as possible. We also would like to thank all of those in the SharePoint community that have provided excellent ideas, code and support.
